About me

I’m deskbound & discharged with a busted knee, a decent coffee habit, and a tendency to over-explain things like I’m still briefing a squad before sunrise. I grew up somewhere between snowbanks and sarcasm in upstate New York. Joined the Army straight out of college. Or just before finishing, depending on who’s asking. Spent over a decade learning things the hard way. Infantry was the first half of my story, admin the second. Somewhere in between I picked up just enough sense to duck instead of charge.

Most of my time in uniform was a back-and-forth between overseas deployments and garrison life. Just enough action to stay awake. Just enough meetings to want out. I’ve seen sandstorms, spreadsheets, and a surprising number of field manuals that should have stayed in draft form. Toward the end I swapped out gear for binders and found myself running personnel shops, fixing broken leave forms and taping up morale with sarcasm and coffee. When the knees started cracking louder than the jokes, I figured it was time to pack it up.

Now I write from a quiet town where the rent is low and the neighbors wave. This site is for those of us who know the difference between hurry up and wait, who carry a healthy suspicion of printers, and who still fold t-shirts like it matters. No war stories here. No speeches either. Just field notes from the other side of the fence. If you’ve ever triple-checked your garage door, labeled your kitchen drawers, or sighed at the phrase “mandatory fun,” then you’ll fit in just fine. Welcome.
