Previous: E-89: Combat Vehicle Platoon as a Maneuver Element
E-90. Combat vehicles are broken down into two sections. Each section is placed under the operational control of an Infantry platoon and maneuvered according to the company commander’s intent. The commander relinquishes direct control of the combat vehicle maneuver to his subordinates. This technique is effective in maintaining the same rate of progress between the combat vehicles and Infantry Soldiers. Leaders have the additional responsibility of maneuvering combat vehicles. The general lack of experience with combat vehicles and overall battlefield focus of the leaders can affect this technique. This technique is best suited for when contact with the enemy is expected and close continuous support is required for movement or clearing buildings.
