G-62. Leaders must employ SLM and CCMS to minimize danger to friendly Soldiers caused by the surface danger zones or back blast danger zones. They must weigh the risk of firing the missile in close proximity to friendly assault forces against the need to suppress or destroy enemy fortifications or vehicles from the support by fire or assault position. This section discusses SLM and CCMS safety.
