1-120: Platoon Headquarters

1-120. The platoon headquarters consists of the platoon leader, platoon sergeant, RTO, and attached fire support team and platoon combat medic. The platoon leader responsibilities include the employment of the platoon and all the platoon’s systems. The platoon sergeant is the senior NCO in the platoon. He is second in succession of command and leads the platoon’s mounted element when the platoon leader dismounts with the Infantry squads. He assists and advises the platoon leader and leads the platoon in the platoon leader’s absence.
